Sarah Woodward is a UK textile designer who has spent over twenty years designing prints for womenswear, where pattern and colour were never separate decisions. Every design was developed in several colours, and every colour tested against the design: coral for summer, navy for spring, sage for calm, bold red for the ones who wanted to be seen.
Why we started
Sarah has always been driven by three things: fashion, art, and a deep love of floral design. Pattern & Pixel is where all three came together.
But the real reason we started is simpler than that.
We believe the right art in the right colour does something to a room — and to the person in it. It lifts a Monday morning. It calms a Sunday evening. It makes a rented flat feel like a home. That's what Sarah and Mark set out to create — and it's what drives every design they make.
Every design in three colours
Most wall art comes in one colour: take it or leave it. Sarah designs every piece in three, the way she always did in fashion, so when you find a design you love, you don’t have to settle for a colour that’s almost right.

How Sarah designs each print
Every design starts with a single element: a flower, a leaf or a geometric form. Sometimes Sarah sketches or paints it by hand; sometimes she draws it straight onto screen. From there, she builds it into a pattern, refining the composition until the balance feels right.
Then comes the colour, the part that makes every piece different. Sarah develops each of the three colours separately, testing and refining until every one works as well as the others: the coral as resolved as the lilac, the bold as balanced as the soft.
